Welcome to my Blog, A Hound and A Human…
My name is Christina. I live in Derbyshire, England, with my husband and two children and our Basset Hound, Lillia. I am the sole author of A Hound and A Human.
We have always been fortunate enough to have dogs and a few years ago we decided to get a Basset Hound puppy, named Lillia. At the time we had Penny, our elderly Staffordshire Bull Terrier, Penny had two big brothers, who both died of old age, so we knew she was accommodating to other dogs.

I don’t quite think we were prepared for what the following two years had instore for us, after bringing Lillia home. I had recently left my career in IT to stay at home, to spend more time with the children. I had a daughter at school and a son who was a toddler and now a puppy who was worse than a newborn baby.
Lillia chewed kitchen cupboards, a solid oak sideboard, shoes, kids’ toys, she just chewed everything that came within her reach. She managed to open cupboards and managed to open the integrated washing machine. She refused to be house trained and she just wouldn’t listen. I just felt like there was no hope.
Other people gave me their advice, “she needs a crate”, “she needs this”, “she needs that”, I tried everything and still felt like a failure. We would spend so much time trying to train her, but nothing sank in.
Then something happened, she changed. Overnight, she went from being the nightmare puppy who was intent on destroying our house, to being my loving little sidekick.
We then lost Penny, so I started to write about the experience of losing Penny, through the eyes of our Basset Hound, Lillia and that was how A Hound and A Human was born.

Lillia is humorous, stubborn, self-absorbed, loving and entertaining, she is my best friend and has so much personality.
I hope you enjoying reading about our life together on, A Hound and A Human, through the eyes of our Basset Hound.
Love
Tina and Lillia x
